Biography

Allison Jacobs is a dedicated Lipedema advocate, dancer, and content creator who has turned her personal health journey into a powerful movement for awareness and body acceptance. Known to her large social media community as @allison.jacobsss, Allison’s path to a diagnosis began through the very platform she built; after years of unexplained swelling and disproportionate weight gain, it was her followers who first suggested she might have Lipedema.

Formally diagnosed in 2021 with Stage 2, Type 2 Lipedema, Allison has been transparent about the physical and mental toll of the disease, including its intersection with eating disorders and chronic pain. In 2024, she completed a series of three life-changing lipedema reduction surgeries with Dr. David Amron at The Roxbury Institute, documenting every step from the pre-surgical fears to the grueling recovery and eventual return to the dance floor.

Through her "online diary" of dance and advocacy, Allison has been featured by The TODAY Show, Dove’s Real Beauty campaign, and CanvasRebel Magazine. She is a vocal proponent of the idea that Lipedema surgery is a medical necessity rather than a cosmetic choice, and she uses her regained mobility to inspire others. By sharing her story at the Lipedema Summit, Allison continues her mission to improve diagnostic standards, advocate for insurance reform, and provide hope to women navigating their own "Lippy" journeys.
